Interzum reveals key theme for 2027 edition in Cologne

One of the world’s leading furniture industry trade fairs, interzum, has revealed that the key theme for its 2027 edition will be: ‘Beyond Boundaries: Elevating Strategic Resilience’.

Taking place at the Köln Messe from 11 to 14 May, 2027, the show will explore how the international supplier industry is encountering the challenges of a dynamic market environment with resilience, future-capability and impressive adaptability.

Organisers say that the key theme creates a common content framework for central themes of the industry and invites exhibitors to present their solutions in the context of strategic resilience.

“Strategic resilience has become a decisive competitive factor for the international supplier industry,” said interzum Director, Maik Fischer. “With the key theme of interzum 2027, we create a common framework that provides orientation, promotes international industry dialogue and makes strategies for the future and innovations visible. interzum brings leading companies, high-profile experts and a premium trade public together and shows the materials, components, technologies and concepts with which the industry is actively shaping the transformation.”

The umbrella theme of strategic resilience at this year’s interzum will be broadly focused on three different areas: collaboration, regionalisation, and sourcing optimisation.

Collaboration is about establishing new partnerships and collaborative networks within the value creation chain – teaching companies that by coming together, they can produce more efficiently with joint and holistic solutions.

Regionalisation focuses on the trend of relocating production and supply structures closer to important sales markets, highlighting that local facilities in important growth markets are a key competitive advantage.

Sourcing optimisation encompasses strategies for more resilient supply chains. Diversified procurement, digital processes and long-term partnerships help companies minimise risks and sustainably reinforce their competitiveness.

The last edition of interzum in 2025 attracted around 60,000 trade visitors from 157 countries and housed more than 1,6000 exhibitors from 57 countries, showcasing the true international nature of the furniture and supply business.

Bookings are now open for exhibitors at interzum 2027.
