A new cooperation between Germany’s Tiny House Association (Tiny House Verband) and its Federal Association of the Camping Industry (BVCD) looks set to benefit the future of the camping, glamping, and tiny house industries.
The agreement will see the two associations cooperate in legal and political issues in order to support the growing trend of positioning tiny houses as a high-quality accommodation form on campsites.
The associations hope that the strong demand for glamping and classic camping in Germany can be met with ecologically sustainable tiny houses – a key driver of that will be simplified construction law for campsites, quality assurance and standards in glamping, and an intensive exchange of knowledge that is organised and developed.
Both Tiny House Verband and BVCD co-exhibited at the recent New Housing Fair in Karlsruhe, Germany, in June and enjoyed a warm reception to their new working relationship.
“As a Tiny House association, we want the leisure sector to also benefit from the flexibility and sustainability of tiny houses,” said Tiny House Verband CEO Regina Schleyer. “Here we see great potential for campsite operators who can offer accessible and infrastructure-equipped places for tiny houses. With the joint appearance of THV and BVCD vis-à-vis legislators, the status of tiny houses and mobile homes at campsites is to be clarified. This should also allow Tiny Houses to be installed in campsites in the long term, which can then also serve as a second home.”
Frank Schaal, Managing Director of BVCD, said: “Camping is booming! Also, through new tourist accommodation forms, which many people do not suspect at all on a campsite. With the cooperation of the two associations, we see as BVCD an enormous potential to further enhance the camping industry and thus offer the enthusiastic campers an additional alternative to the motorhome, caravan or tent. Our campsites are thus also given the opportunity to get guests who would otherwise never choose a campsite. We presented the exciting new possibilities for tiny houses on wheels at campsites to the visitors at the New Housing Fair.”
