From 20 to 26 September this year, international organisation the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) will be celebrating its annual Forest Week event – a global awareness campaign centred around sustainable forestry.
Throughout the week, companies around the world will be participating by sharing information about sustainable sourcing from the world’s forests in order to promote the work that the FSC does, alongside their own commitments to that goal via certifications obtained from the organisation.
It’s a particularly poignant awareness week for the mobile home and tiny home industries, which rely heavily on wood and timber products to manufacture many of the different types of open-air tourism accommodation they offer.
Several companies that supply to the mobile home industry have FSC certifications, and many will be supporting the event – one such company is Italian brand Panguaneta Plywood.
In a statement on its LinkedIn page, the company said: FSC Forest Week is dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of sustainable forestry. Throughout the week, we’ll highlight how it benefits people, nature, and the climate – and how individuals can get involved by making more sustainable choices.”
The FSC is a non-profit organisation with the aim of protecting the world’s forests and tackling issues around deforestation, climate, and biodiversity. The body currently certifies over 150 million hectares of forests that meet its standards regarding a wide range of environmental, social, and economic factors.
The FSC issue certifications to manufacturers that use forest-based materials to show that they are committed to responsible sourcing both in terms of people and the planet. It also issues promotional licences to retailers, brands, and other companies that want to promote products that are made in a responsibl way.
