Swiss private equity firm, Limestone Capital, has announced that it has acquired a stakeholding of just over 30 per cent in British design-led modular cabin producer Nokken.
The new partnership will help to accelerate Nokken’s international expansion ambitions, with growth being targeted across Europe, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Nokken also aims to enter markets in Asia and Australasia with this new investment, which will be primarily used to enter strategic partnerships with landowners and operators.
Nokken has become known as somewhat of a pioneer in the modular cabin sector in its homeland of the United Kingdom, thanks to utilising nature-immersive designs in unique locations.
The company was founded by Nathan Aylott and James Van Tromp, who both came from hospitality architecture and design backgrounds before forming the company. The company says that it believes it produces “the most efficient, flexible, modular cabins in the world, designed for people to love, enjoy, create memories and holiday within.”
Nathan said: “This is a significant milestone in Nokken’s journey and confirmation of where we believe the hospitality market is heading. We are confident in the alignment this represents.”
Meanwhile, James Van Tromp added: “We’ve always believed that great design isn’t just about aesthetics, it’s about impact. This partnership gives us the platform to bring Nokken’s vision to a global stage, where architecture, nature, and emotion meet in powerful, purposeful ways.”
All of Nokken’s cabin designs are low-footprint to reduce land disturbance, as well as being constructed with responsible materials, and avoiding the heavy infrastructure demands of conventional builds, thus making hospitality viable in sensitive or remote locations.
“Limestone Capital is a great strategic alignment for Nokken. The partnership with Limestone allows us to focus on bringing our products to some of the best destinations in the world and ensuring end customers can experience nature in new, meaningful ways,” said Craig McDonald, CEO of the Nokken Group. “Their hospitality expertise and operational excellence will be instrumental as we scale.”
