British park home industry icon Tony Berwick dies

Tony Berwick, who served for many years as a Director of British firm Manor Park Homes, sadly died on 7 December at the age of 83.

Tony was a well-known figure in the park home industry in the UK and led Manor Park Homes for more than 30 years, building it into one of the best-known names in the sector.

He is survived by his wife Yvonne, his two children Joanna and John – who continue to run the business and honour his legacy – his daughter in law Nikki, and his grandchildren, Milica, Hope, Millan, Taylor, James and Ashby.

John Lally, Director General of the UK’s National Caravan Council, wrote a detailed obituary about Tony, in which he stated: “Tony was a familiar and much-valued presence at NCC manufacturers’ meetings over many years. He cared deeply about the wellbeing and future of the industry and was particularly supportive of his fellow manufacturers – many of whom he supplied chassis to through Bell Trailers. His commitment to the sector went far beyond business; it was rooted in genuine loyalty and pride in the industry he helped shape.

“Tony was a strong and determined character in both business and life, but this was always balanced by a great sense of humour and an infectious laugh. He had a larger-than-life presence, and once you met Tony, you certainly did not forget him.”

Tony’s funeral will take place on Tuesday, 6 January, and the family is running a fundraiser for those who would like to honour his memory, with proceeds going to the Friends of St Mary’s Burton Latimer.
