Industry professionals enjoy successful European High Pressure Laminate Summit

Around 80 laminate industry professionals from across Europe recently convened in Marseille, France, for the 2025 edition of the European High Pressure Laminate (HPL) Summit.

Visitors to the summit, which is organised by the International Committee of the Decorative Laminates Industry (ICDLI), included manufacturers, suppliers, designers, architects, and other associated partners in the high-pressure laminate field – all aiming to exchange ideas and strengthen cross-industry relationships.

The summit took place from 22-24 October and featured a strong seminar line-up with guests from leading companies and institutions in the HPL sector, including those in architecture, modular construction, design, and green solutions.

Seminar speakers included Felix Schweizer from sustainable urban planning office Spacelab; Carlos Cruz, Honorary President of the ICDLI; Matti Rantanene of the European Panel Federation; Volker Irle, Managing Director of the Association of the Modern Kitchen; Ana Maria Plata from Munksjö; Maximilian Hammerschmidt of Schattdecor; Jérôme Rütsche and Barbara Schwärzler from the Swiss Center for Design and Health; Caroline van de Populiere of UNILIN Technologies; Markus Höchli, speaker of a market research group; Claudia Costa of Surfoma; Nadia Oukid from Sappi; and Philip Haller from Upco.

“Nowhere else does the European HPL community come together in such breadth and depth,” said Miguel Nogueira from Surfoma and President of ICDLI.

“We believe that the knowledge and innovative approaches here will drive progress in material, design and environmental performance for years to come. The ICDLI European HPL Summit has once again proven to be the meeting point that unites all players of the HPL industry – from raw material producers to design visionaries – under one roof.”

The ICDLI also welcomed two new associate members to its organisation at the summit, Follmann and Ahlstrom, which means it now has a total of 30 member companies.
